✝️ “Very early on Sunday morning the women went to the tomb...They found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. So they went in, but they didn’t find the body of the Lord Jesus. As they stood there puzzled, two men suddenly appeared to them, clothed in dazzling robes...Then the men asked, “Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is alive? He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead!.” ” Luke 24, excerpts, New Living Translation
Tomorrow being Easter Sunday, we were wondering if this Vista would be a good place to watch the sun rise as we remember Jesus' resurrection. It indeed would have been a delightful spot to sit and ponder God's love as the morning light filled the valley, however, the trailhead sign indicates this place does not open until 7 am, an hour AFTER sunrise. So we will not be hiking to this viewpoint for an Easter sunrise. Also, rain is in the forecast for Easter morning.
But not all is lost, this trail makes a lovely afternoon hike with great views looking across the Skykomish River Valley to Mount Index and Mount Persis. This trail is part of the Reiter Foothills Forest DNR trail system just outside the town of Gold Bar. It is well known and used by the mountain biking, ORV, horse, rock climbing, and bouldering communities. The trailhead is located at the end of 429th Street SE off of May Creek Road.
