After being the face of the railroad for nearly 12 years, the 75-year-old EMD GP9 reign has come to an end on the JAIL. After a change in ownership last summer, and an increase in customer traffic, newer locomotives will be replacing the GP9s, including an SD40M and GP40. Once these new locomotives are painted, 2 of the 3 GP9s will be returning to their home on the Adrian & Blissfield. 1760 will stay behind for lighter operations. At the end of March, while on spring break, I filmed 1760 and 1751 traversing their usual route from Mason to Lansing one last time. I was able to film 1751 leading, which is something I hadn't done before. It's certainly sad to say goodbye to the locomotives I grew up with. However, I'm glad to have documentation of their stay. Nonetheless, I'm looking forward to a change of pace on the Jackson & Lansing Railroad. Stay tuned folks, and please share this video if you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
