Karnak - the largest ancient temple complex, a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is a destination for tourists, who want to explore ancient civilizations, see for themselves mysterious ruins, and, perhaps, unravel ancient mysteries. The historical landmarks like, for example, the avenue of ram-headed sphinxes, the Great Hypostyle Hall as well the giant obelisks are included in every itinerary to this magnificent place as they truly are the archeological wonders.
There are, however, still some places you’ve never seen or heard about before, the real hidden treasures. The temple of Ptah or the Chapel of Osiris-Hekadjet are, in a way, hidden on the northern side of this humongous temple complex. The Open-air Museum displaying reconstructed gems of ancient Egyptian architecture such as: the famous Alabaster Barque Shrine of Amenhotep I, the Red Chapel of Hatshepsut, and the White Chapel of Senusret/Sesostris I is also often skipped over due to lack of time during the organized trips.
