Tet Offensive | Dramatic Combat Footage of Vietnam War Turning Point (1968)

On 31 January 1968, at the height of the Vietnam War,
Viet Cong and North Vietnamese forces launched
the surprise Tet Offensive, striking cities
and bases across South Vietnam. In the weeks that followed, ITN’s Sandy Gall and
camera operator Alan Downes reported from across
Vietnam as American and South Vietnamese troops
fought to regain control of the country. Gall’s reports captured a pivotal moment in the
Vietnam War, as the scale of the offensive reshaped
international perceptions of the conflict
and its future direction. They are presented here in full.
