Experience the true taste of winter with this authentic Punjabi-style Saag — rich, creamy, and bursting with earthy flavors! 🌿✨
In this recipe, I combined:
1 kg mustard greens (Saag)
½ kg spinach (Palak)
1 bunch bathua
All washed, chopped, and cooked together in a deep pot (daigchi) for the best traditional flavor.
Once the greens soften and the water reduces, I added:
Fresh green chilli paste
Red chilli flakes
4–5 tbsp wheat flour (for perfect creaminess)
Salt to taste
Plenty of Desi Ghee for richness
The saag is then whisked/“ghootha” using a whisk or madhani until beautifully smooth and creamy.
Finally, a sizzling garlic tadka gives it the perfect finishing touch! 🔥🧄
This is the perfect winter comfort food, best enjoyed with Makki ki roti, white butter, or desi ghee.
