Swift was excited to get going this morning and ran out the door to get to the quad! I went to the farmyard first thing to setup the pens and gates for bringing in the next group of sheep that need treated.
There was a difficult ewe and her lambs in the wrong field that need moved first. She was refusing to move for Swift but eventually moved. I then moved the heard up the field and out onto the farm track. They went the wrong way so Swift had to bring them back. We then drove them up the farm track the right way and into the handling pens. Today we were treating again for the control of strike, ticks, lice and head flies with Vectocert. We also wormed them all with Rycoben SC. We were also looking out for any with bad feet.
Once in the sorting shed we moved them through the race and treated them in small groups. I was looking for any with bad feet and treating with Blue spray and Alamycin (antibiotic).
Lunchtime!
After lunch we continued putting them through the race. I took a turn of putting the Vectocert on the backs. After an hour we were finished and we moved them back out to the field they were in.
I then loaded up the trailer with old tarmac. At the hen shed we have been making a drive-thru section so that we can drive in with the trailer to sit under the muck belt. A new fence has been put up and we cut through the original fence and dug it out where the new track will go. A hardcore base was put down and the tarmac was going on the top. We dropped off the trailer loads and then smoothed it out using the Manitou. I then rolled it with the McCormick and the Watson roller.
Back home after finishing!
Thanks for watching!
