Italian bread
makes 2 loaves
1 1/2 cup warm water 110 degrees F
1 cup warm milk 110 degrees F
2 packages yeast
6 cups bread flour
2 Tablespoons soft butter
2 Tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon powdered onion
1 teaspoon powdered garlic
1 teaspoon thyme
1 teaspoon rosemary
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
Top to taste
parsley or Italian seasoning
paprika
olive oil
1. Add sugar - water - milk - yeast, dump flour directly on top, add butter, salt, powdered onion, powdered garlic, thyme, rosemary, and Italian seasoning, mix or knead the dough until springy to the touch, mix or knead an extra 5 - 8 minutes.
2. Oil a bowl with whatever you have, *butter, spray butter, olive oil, etc. allow bowl to rise in a warm dark place for 1 hour.
3. Deflate the dough, turn onto work surface and cut in half, don't try to use a lot of flour but add if needed, roll out flat and roll dough into a tube shape with your hands, add to loaf pan, take a brush, brush olive oil onto top of loaf, this isn't necessary but add paprika and parsley to the top for a good look and added flavor.
4. Allow to rise 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
5. Preheat oven 375 F make 3 slits on top of your bread with a knife and bake 40 - 45 mins, enjoy!
