Outlander | Jamie & Claire | A Thousand Years | Season 1 - 7

For my current video about Jamie & Claire from the TV show Outlander I chose the song "A Thousand Years" in the version by Boyce Avenue 🙏🏼➡️    / @boyceavenue  . I found it difficult to decide between this version and a version by a female artist. The decision for this version had a bit to do with the perspective. I don't tell the song exclusively from Jamie's point of view, but it was easier for me to create the video from this perspective. The images that I could use for certain parts of the lyrics flew to me more easily than in the other version. And yet I'm a little sad, because the female version is also stunningly beautiful. Maybe I should make a second video? What do you think?
No matter which version, the song suits them incredibly well for different reasons. What lines: "I have loved you for a thousand years, I'll love you for a thousand more" - they fit very well with Jamie & Claire and the time travel theme. They fell in love and despite everything that happened to them, this love grew. Despite their unwanted separation, despite the 200 years that lay between them, despite the belief that they would never see each other again, they continued to love each other. Their love outlasted time and space and who knows how long this spiral of time will last, how often their story has repeated itself or will repeat itself. Perhaps a thousand years...?
But the song also reminds me of the poem by Catullus "Da Mi Basia Mille" - and its place in the story of Jamie & Claire and therefore of course also of the inscription in Claire's ring - Give me a thousand kisses. And so I tried to incorporate parts of this poem into the video at various points.
And last but not least, I think the lyrics fit the situation and the emotions after Claire's return very well. Doubts, fears, insecurities. Is the love still there, the special thing between them, are they still the same deep down inside, can they find each other again and become one again, can they live with the changes in the other, does the other want that too...? It quickly becomes clear that the love is still there on both sides and yet it takes a while for them to find their rhythm as a couple again. It is a slow rapprochement - one step closer (and closer, and closer).
Claire, who initially doubts Jamie's love and sincerity and whether they still belong together. And Jamie, whose greatest fear is that he could lose her again. Both are a little afraid to get involved because they know how it would feel if they were to fail and lose the other again, his love and his presence in life. Their greatest wish, their greatest longing is fulfilled after all these years of pain and sadness, and they fear that this new reality could burst like a soap bubble. The song allows this wavering between fears and happiness and the desire to finally be together to be portrayed. Their gradual rapprochement as well as the existence of their love and passion, which has never died and which burns like an eternal flame. So the song allows a kind of story to be told and that's what I like to do in my videos😊😉.
I hope you enjoy watching their reunion and their journey back to each other, to the couple that nothing and no one can separate. To the couple who love each other so steadfastly and unconditionally. To the couple who have loved each other for a thousand years and will love each other for a thousand more. Just as we love them and always will.

PS: I wanted to let you know that there might not be a video from me next week. I'll be on vacation and haven't managed to finish another video yet. I think it's only a matter of time before I can no longer keep to this weekly rhythm anyway. On the one hand, creating the videos takes a lot of time, but also creativity, inspiration and research. On the other hand, my life is not just about creating these videos, no matter how much it fulfills me. Sometimes life requires attention. In order to meet my own standards, I will have to increase the intervals between the videos at some point. But we'll see how that develops.
