Sicilian Handmade House Bread: Focaccia and Cassata made in the Traditional Way in Italy

How seductive is freshly baked homemade bread, especially when it's made in the traditional way by hand, using wooden implements and a stone oven!

In this episode, we head to Comiso, a place near Ragusa in Sicily. Lucia and Giancarlo run a guest house called Il Filo di Paglia.

They’ve invited their sisters, brothers, their nephews and nieces for a day of baking. Using traditional methods, it’s all done by hand, wooden implements and a stone oven.

Using traditional Sicilian flour, Lucia and her family not only make pane di casa (house bread) but also focaccia and something sweet too… cassata which is traditional Sicilian sweet.

As with so many Italian and Sicilian foods, each region has its own take on everything and no exception to the pane di casa, focaccia and cassata.

With that said, it's baking in all its glory... what a party!
