This week’s Build Focus was all about getting the first-floor lighting back on. During the upstairs bathroom renovation I had cut the old knob-and-tube wiring, so this week I pulled all-new wire to the dining room switch and the foyer switch. The foyer put up a fight—between prying up an old cold air return and crawling through the dirt in the basement, it was definitely an adventure.
My endoscope camera came in handy more than once as I navigated the walls and realized the garage and carport lights had been tied into the old knob-and-tube setup. I also installed the junction boxes that will sit behind the new lighting in the foyer, dining room, and hallway. It’s not glamorous work, but it’s the kind of progress that makes everything else possible. So close to turning on some lights!
