Here is my 1901 Top Wind Columbia Model AJ Graphophone playing "An Election District Parade In New York City" by the National Guard Drum And Fife Corps (interestingly the record's announcer attributes the recording to the "National Fife And Drum Corps"). The machine is the scarce, earliest style of the model AJ Graphophone and was the only top wind model ever produced by Columbia. It has a very primitive designed motor and is noisy as is expected from the earliest Columbia Disc Graphophone motors. These early Columbia motors did their best to maintain a consistent speed but as you can tell by my video the speed can vary a bit during play. It's all part of the fun of collecting very early music machines. I selected this particular 7 inch Zonophone record from my collection of early Zonophones since it has interesting content and is in great playing condition. Thanks for stopping in and I hope that you enjoy this video. And thanks also to those of you who stopped in earlier to look at my original HD upload of this video. It did not upload to YouTube cleanly so I converted it to this smaller bandwidth format. : )
