►Spark plugs and ignition coils will eventually wear out. Typically, the plugs will go first, at around 60,000 miles, but the coils won't be far behind. Therefore, we recommend replacing your ignition coils and spark plugs. All it requires is a few hand tools, and you can replace them at home for much less than a dealer would charge.
Signs of failing plugs and coils include a rough idle, worsening fuel economy, power loss, and a check engine light. The vehicle can be driven with these symptoms, but it's not recommended to do so for long. Fortunately, the coils and plugs are easily accessible atop the B48 engine, making this DIY a relatively short endeavor.
