Half-Kneeling Single-Arm Side Bend Lat Pull (Cable or Band)
A half-kneeling drill that combines controlled side bending with a single-arm lat pull. This movement emphasizes rib cage mobility, trunk stability, and shoulder control rather than maximal pulling strength, making it well suited for in-season or lower-stress training blocks.
Why this matters for golfers over 40
This drill helps maintain rib cage movement, trunk control, and shoulder positioning without heavy loading. It’s a useful option when the goal is to stay mobile and stable through the torso while keeping the body resilient during the golf season.
Coaching cues
• Set up in a half-kneeling position with the inside leg up. Position your torso slightly behind the cable or band attachment point.
• Use the free hand to lightly push into a wall, post, or pole to improve stability.
• Inhale and allow the cable to pull you into a small side bend, decreasing the space between the ribs and pelvis on the working side.
• Exhale as you pull down. Let the shoulder move slightly back and down while returning the torso toward center.
• Keep the hips and head relatively still. Focus on rib cage movement rather than shifting the pelvis.
