Annie (Doris Speed) is pleased to see Billy (Kenneth Farrington) but wonders why he’s back in Weatherfield. Alan (Alan Browning) opens up to Maggie (Irene Sutcliffe) about his marriage troubles with Elsie (Pat Phoenix). Ivy (Lynne Perrie) and Edna (Mavis Rogerson) convince Elsie to come to The Red Lion for a night out. Gerald (David Davies) visits Annie again but she makes it clear she is only after friendship. Billy reveals to Annie that he is £3000 in debt after his business in London failed.
