This homemade version of Roti is just as the roti shop, soft, silky and tasty, you wouldn’t be able to tell the deference.

Ingredients
4 cups flour (all purpose)
3 tsp baking powder
3 tsp sugar
half tsp salt
2 tbsp cookeen (vegetable fat)
2 tbsp margarine
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 cup warm milk mix with 1 cup water
DIRECTIONS
Mix flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt with warm milk and water
Knead to a soft dough for 5 minutes, allow to rest for 15 minutes
*After resting, make 4 dough balls, allow to rest another 10 minutes
*Roll out dough after “resting”
Spread margarine and Cookeen
*Make a cut at the center to the edge, and roll making a cone
Press the peak and flatten the center of the cone, allow to rest for at least one hour
Afterwards roll out dough flat on a flour board
Coat the already hot tawa with vegetable oil, using a brush
*Place dough on the tawah
Allow to cook for 30 seconds on each side, coating both sides with butter or vegetable oil
*When cooked, use a dabla to break up roti to give it a ripped up flaky appearance
Wrap roti in a clean cloth
The finish buss up shut is ready to be served.
