The Lagrangian and Hamiltonian corresponding to the Klein-Gordon (KG) equation are introduced in a quick (and incomplete) way to be refined in the next lecture. Using the Lagrangian, the "momentum" associated with the KG field is derived. Then the field is quantized by promoting the field & its momentum to operators with certain commutation relations similar to the Simple Harmonic Oscillator. The whole procedure is a quick thus rough approach to give the big picture at this point; more details (e.g., difference between Lagrangian and Lagrangian density etc.) will be added in the following lecture to complete the second quantization of the KG field in a standard way.
