If we want to connect a battery storage system to a PV system, we first need to decide whether it should be connected on the DC or AC side.
If connected on the DC side, a hybrid inverter is used, which converts both the direct current of the modules and of the battery into alternating current.
In contrast, when connected on the AC side, an additional battery inverter is required.
In addition, the battery storage must be protected against overcharging and deep discharging. For this purpose, a charge controller is used, which function is often integrated in hybrid or battery inverters already.
