In three years, the NWSL’s New York/New Jersey Gotham FC has nearly tripled its valuation, going from an estimated $40 million to $110 million.
It’s been a transformative few years for the franchise, which rebranded from the Sky Blue FC to Gotham FC in 2020. The full makeover has included adding star athletes like Kevin Durant, Eli Manning and Carli Lloyd as minority owners, plus Emily Tisch Sussman and her sister, Carolyn Tisch Blodgett.
The sisters, who also own the New York Giants, have had impressive careers. Tisch Blodgett was once the head of global marketing for Peloton, and Tisch Sussman was a constitutional lawyer.
Tisch Sussman joined our Editor-in-Chief Stephanie Paterik for a powerful conversation on the rise of women’s sports viewership, including what they're borrowing from the Peloton playbook, whether brands are paying their athletes enough and how fragmentation is changing fandom.
