Summary Of Video
This video is preparation to learn Bebop and it explains how to play over dominant 7th chord.
Before middle 1950s, dominant 7th chords were mainly used to give the force of chord progression in jazz context. This video explains why a dominant 7th chord gives a force of chord progression. By showing voice leading as parts of solo phrases, musicians emphasized outlines of cadence. That was the core of the structure of Bebop.
Demonstrations are arpeggios of dominant 7th chord, also adding b9th upper extension, and adding a chromatic approach note to the 3rd of the chord. Video explains how flat 9th (or b9) works to emphasize the cadence.
