Our day in Osaka started with sunshine, high hopes… and a little bad luck. 🍀
From Osaka Castle’s grand beauty to the charming Hokoku Shrine, we explored history, culture, and the art of omikuji — Japan’s fortune-telling paper slips.
Spoiler: the fortune wasn’t in my favor, and I might have unleashed a day of minor chaos. 😅

After tying away my bad luck (or at least trying to), we grabbed lunch at a cozy Okonomiyaki restaurant, where locals welcomed us with warm smiles and Osaka-style comfort food. 🥢

Next stop: Nakanoshima Island, a peaceful oasis in the middle of the city — the perfect place to unwind before heading to Daimaru Shinsaibashi Department Store for something I had been looking forward to for years: the Pokémon Café! ⚡️🐭

We booked our table weeks in advance, and it was worth every second — from the Pikachu meet-and-greet and adorable drinks to the cutest Eevee parfait ever. The 9-year-old in me was screaming with joy (internally, of course).

After the Pokémon Café, we explored the Pokémon Center, admired rare TCG and Magic: The Gathering cards, and dove into more Japanese pop culture — from a Ghibli Store full of whimsical treasures to a Godzilla Store packed with monstrous humor. 🦖🎌

But the day wasn’t over without one last twist: my long-awaited Fujiko Gacha machine was sold out. 💔 Maybe that shrine fortune was right after all…
