In this video we visit Sydney’s Circular Quay station, which is situated on the northern edge of the Sydney CBD overlooking Sydney Harbour on the City Circle railway. It’s adjacent to the Circular Quay ferry warf and is only a short 10 minute walk from the world famous Sydney Opera House.
In this video we visit the station at night on a Sunday evening, starting with some trains at the platforms. Circular Quay is served by T2 Inner West & Leppington line services anti-clockwise through the City Circle, and T3 Bankstown Line & T8 Airport & South Line services on platform 2 clockwise through the City Circle. Being a weekend though most of the trains we see are Series 1 & 2 Wararatah trains (A & B Sets), with the only exception being two Tangara trains (T Sets) towards the end.
Afterwards we head outside where we see some light rail services. Circular Quay is the city terminus for the L2 Randwick & L3 Juniors Kingsford light rail services, which were constructed as part of the CBD & South East Light Rail project which opened on the 14th December 2019. All trams seen are the Alstom Citadis 305’s. This is the first time I’ve filmed these two light rail services since opening.
Circular Quay station marked the completion of engineer John Bradfield’s vision for a City Circle railway around the Sydney CBD. It opened on the 20th January 1956 and is heritage listed.
I filmed this video as a test to see how my Google Pixel 6 Phone would handle filming 4K video.
