Day 15 of Exploring the Power of Qi Gong features Drawing the Bow as Though to Shoot the Buzzard, one of the classic movements from the Eight Brocades (Ba Duan Jin).
This short, 4-minute practice is offered as a pause for reflection — an opportunity to check in with how you are taking aim at your intention for this 30-day series (we are at the midway point) and for the year ahead.
We practice this movement in a wider Horse Stance to build strength and stability, with the option to practice seated in a chair, making it accessible for many bodies and energy levels.
This movement is especially beneficial for:
• Supporting the lung and liver meridian lines
• Stimulating Lung 1 & 2 points beneath the collarbones
• Improving posture, breath awareness, and upper-body openness
• Cultivating focus and clarity through the eyes (the sense organ of the liver)
• Strengthening the legs and grounding the body
Energetically, Drawing the Bow invites us to gather our energy, focus our gaze, and consciously direct intention — without force, striving, or tension.
Part of the 30-Day Exploring the Power of Qi Gong Series, offering gentle daily practices of 4–9 minutes to build strength, release tension, regulate energy, and cultivate embodied awareness.
