Takara Alternity A-03 Bumblebee Transformation Sequence

Stop-Motion Transformation of Takara Alternity A-03 Bumblebee. Very complete interior! The knees are wild. There are little hooks that are supposed to grab and solidify the robot knee joint, but they tend to be VERY hard to snap into place. I found filing down the hooks helped make them more cooperative and they still hold fine. Might be hard to tell, but as you press that center spine toward the front of the car (to reveal his hips, for example), it also retracts the windshield/hood assembly into the car interior. Also, you will note that flipping that little panel near the beginning releases a spring mechanism that pops the let assembly out a bit. A tab on the flap presses on an indented button that releases the mechanism. In reverse you would actually move the flap first and then click the legs in that small amount to reset the spring mechanism.

Production Note: Ha! I took him off the clamp to flip him over for torso transformation and got the thing rotated 180d. So right before he rotates, you are seeing the “hood” side of the legs and then pop! The first frame of the rotation is now the undercarriage side.

Viewing Note:
If you want to follow along, I recommend skipping to the speed run and using your , and . keyboard keys to advance by single frames. Every step of the transformation is documented in the frames of the video, in what I consider to be the best sequence. With minimal rubbing and minimal parts-parking.
