7029 Clun Castle Charges Through the Midlands!

In this video, we capture 7029 Clun Castle charging through Derbyshire on The Christmas White Rose 27th November 2024!

We start the video at Alfreton where we see 7029 blasting through around the bend as she makes her way from Coleshill Parkway to York on a cold and wet morning, passing through 3 mins early.

We fast forward into the evening for the return leg of the tour where the now late running Clun Castle by 19 mins powers through Chesterfield after almost being held up by a late running Northern Leeds to Nottingham service but thankfully she received the green light and what a great performance she gave to end the day with!

But that's not everything...

We rewind back into summer for Castle bonus footage of 7029 Clun Castle on The White Rose 6th July 2024 and 4079 Pendennis Castle on the Churnet Valley Railway 1st June 2024!

Starting in July with 7029 as she speeds along the Midland Mainline on her way from Birmingham New Street to Scarborough at Sawmills, near Ambergate making her way north with some unfortunate assistance from Class 47 47773 on the rear.

We rewind further back into June where we see 4079 Pendennis Castle on the Churnet Valley Railway making a brilliant sight on the very steep 1 in 45 incline of Impstones Bank to which she is seen barking through the Staffordshire countryside at Bradnop wearing the Z48 headcode and Ian Allan Rail Tour headboard to commemorate the final railtour of Western Region steam which ran on 9th May 1964, a railtour to which 4079 infamously failed on between with firebar issues and was replaced from Westbury to Taunton by 6999 Capel Dewi Hall.

A truly wonderful sight to see 4079 commemorating the 1Z48 railtour 60 years on to end the video with, a tour that 7029 Clun Castle also hauled from Plymouth to Bristol Temple Meads.

Having not known when to release the bonus footage we thought it would only be right to do so on the next video featuring a Castle and hey presto, here it is... a video featuring double and single chimney Castles.

Back to November and overall a great day seeing Clun Castle on The Christmas White Rose to which we hope to capture her again in 2025!
