Power Factor Correction (Full Lecture)

In this lesson we'll examine power factor correction. We'll learn that power factor correction is the addition of a variable reactive element in parallel to an electrical load, adjusted such that its reactive power is equal in magnitude yet of opposite polarity as that consumed by the electrical load. A properly power factor corrected system will deliver the same amount of real power, yet, will draw less source current. Additionally, source current will be in phase with supply voltage.
