Training for an Ultramarathon is not easy - especially as a Hybrid Athlete. This 5 part mini-series covers ALL the training in preparation for my first 50km Ultra at the GC50, on the Gold Coast in December. We look in depth at the mental challenge, running volume, managing KM's and Miles, nutrition, 40km+ workouts, tapering, and eventually race day.
In EP04 we take an inside look at our final and most important workout of the training block. It is a 25 Mile (40km) run to round off peak week, before we go into taper for the Ultramarathon. The focus is on managing Heart Rate, Pace, Hydration and Nutrition, as the heat climbs during the workout - and we try not to be sick.
