As you heal postpartum it is valuable to bring awareness to the pelvic floor area. After giving birth there are changes that occur in the pelvis. Ideally your pelvic floor muscles should be springy and bouncy; not too loose or not too tight. The added weight of baby during pregnancy coupled with the forceful pushing during birth, may leave your pelvic floor muscles unbalanced. This could lead to instability in the pelvic floor.
In this video I will guide you on how to gently initiate the healing process. In order to bring balance to the pelvic floor I recommend doing postures that stabilize, release and strengthen these muscles. In this short sequence you will move through stabilizing and releasing poses, as well as, practice strengthening through pelvic floor breathing.
It is important to wait at least six weeks postpartum before doing this practice. Please consult with your doctor or midwife to ensure physical activity is suitable for you. An optional prop for this video is a folded blanket or towel.
