The Pakistani government under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is preparing to divide its provinces and create new, smaller ones. Pakistani minister Abdul Aleem Khan stated that new, smaller provinces would be created soon to improve administration. However, even before the opposition parties could react, coalition partner Bilawal Bhutto Zardari questioned the plan. Bhutto suggested that Punjab should be divided first. Punjab is considered the political stronghold of the Nawaz Sharif family. The creation of new provinces is also being seen as an attempt by the military to quell growing unrest in several parts of the country.

पाकिस्तान की शहबाज शरीफ सरकार अपने प्रांतों को बांटते हुए नए छोटे प्रांत बनाने की तैयारी में है। पाकिस्तान सरकार में मंत्री अब्दुल अलीम खान ने कहा है कि जल्दी ही नए छोटे प्रांत बनाए जाएंगे, जिससे प्रशासन बेहतर होगा। हालांकि विपक्षी दलों से पहले सत्ता में सहयोगी बिलावल भुट्टो ने ही इस प्लान पर सवाल खड़े कर दिए हैं। बिलावल ने कहा है कि सबसे पहले पंजाब को बांटा जाए। पंजाब को नवाज शरीफ परिवार का राजनीतिक गढ़ माना जाता है। नए प्रांत बनाने को सेना की देश के कई हिस्सों में बढ़ते विद्रोह को रोकने की कोशिश की तरह भी देखा जा रहा है।
