But wait…there’s more! : D We’ll also cover how to make your own glow paint. This is especially useful, because most glow paints available in stores don’t glow very much or very long. They don’t have enough quantity or quality of the luminescent powder in them. The main ingredient needs to be strontium aluminate, a naturally occurring phosphorescent mineral. It has photoluminescent properties, meaning it glows (fluoresces) when exposed to light. It’s not radioactive. We’re using a brand that coats the particles and guarantees none exceed 50 microns in diameter, ensuring it will spray through our .5mm airbrush. In this video we will show you how to make the glow paint, apply it to the spoon, decorate the spoon and apply a two-part epoxy topcoat with glitter. The emphasis is on doing things ourselves and the satisfaction that comes with it. We try to explain how things work and how you might want to work with them.
