On Lake Michigan, where we fish, the late summer and fall are absolutely incredible times to get out. During this period, the fish come close to shore as they migrate to their spawning grounds or wherever they were planted. Some just move in with the bait that starts to get jammed into the last bit of warm water in the harbors. Tens of thousands of fish make their way into the harbors and up the rivers. We like to fish these Little Cleo type casting spoons and metal jigs when the run is on because the fish are extremely aggressive and will strike readily. The big prize this time of year is chinook (king) salmon. These fish can be in excess of 30lbs and are the best fighters in freshwater, bar none. Of particular interest to us are the full moon and rain. If we get a little rain, that helps to get the fish coming in. The full moon brings in hoardes of fish. The two together can be pure magic...bite after bite from big, mature salmon. The fish in the beginning of this video came after a big rain in super dirty water, right in downtown Milwaukee, amongst the cutthroat boat traffic. You can watch the short on the channel. It's pretty intense. The fish fell for a @NaturalSelectionAngling metal glow jig, and it was all over. Anyway, the idea here is that you can make whatever you want to make to use in your fishing arsenal. There's no limit to creativity. By following a few simple guidelines on process and procedure, you can be sure you won't have any major failures. While your buddies are making excuses, you'll be murdering the fish. Try it for yourself. Send us the results and we'll post them. Tight lines, y'all. Thanks for stopping by!
