Delicious Lauki (Bottle Gourd) Kofta 🍛✨
Lauki Ka Kofta is a soft and flavorful Indian dish where bottle gourd is made into round koftas and cooked in a rich, aromatic gravy. Perfect with roti, naan, or steamed rice, it’s a healthy and tasty vegetarian delight.

Ingredients (Samagri):
For Kofta:
1 medium lauki (bottle gourd), grated
2–3 tbsp gram flour (besan)
1–2 green chilies, finely chopped
1/2 tsp red chili powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
Salt to taste
Oil for frying
For Gravy:
2 tbsp oil or ghee
1 tsp cumin seeds
1/4 tsp asafoetida (hing)
2 medium tomatoes, pureed
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp coriander powder
1/2 tsp red chili powder
1/2 tsp garam masala
1/2 cup water
Salt to taste
Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Recipe (Vidhi):
For Kofta:
1. Peel and grate lauki. Squeeze out excess water.
2. Mix grated lauki with besan, green chilies, red chili powder, turmeric, and salt.
3. Shape into small round balls and shallow fry or deep fry until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
For Gravy:
1. Heat oil/ghee in a pan. Add cumin seeds and hing. Sauté for a few seconds.
2. Add tomato puree, turmeric, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook until oil separates.
3. Add water and simmer for 5–7 minutes to form a thick gravy.
4. Gently add fried koftas into the gravy. Simmer for 3–5 minutes so they absorb the flavors.
5. Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh coriander leaves. Serve hot with roti, naan, or rice.
