My Year 11 VCE Mathematical Methods class are now commencing their study of calculus In this topic, we will explore the concept of a rate of change, before developing the techniques required for differentiation.
In this video, we consider the concept of differentiability. A function is differentiable (ie. it’s gradient or derivative exists) as long as it is both continuous and smooth.
The class uses the Cambridge Senior Maths textbook for Unit 1 and 2 Mathematical Methods and the TI Nspire CAS CX / CXII calculator.
