Plant Growth Regulator // Slow Down Lawn Growth

Plant Growth Regulator (PGR) is used to slow the growth of lawn for various reasons.

In the case of warm season lawns in the late spring and summer when the growth rate is the quickest, PGR is used to slow that growth which has a few advantages.

1. Reduced Mowing
2. Reduced Clippings
3. Better Sward Quality
4. Imporved Lateral Growth
5. Thicker
6. Choke Out Weeds (due to beer sward quality)
7. Protect Ground From Evaporation (due to better sward quality)
8. Extend Root System
9. Better Drought Tolerance
10. Improve Aesthetics
11. Reduce Seed Heads (height and number)

How PGR basically works is that used during the growing season after spring renovation repair, it will slow the vertical growth. Less mowing/clippings making it much easier to maintain.

Some basic tips for PGR use:
1. Use on lawn that is in good condition
2. Use on lawn while there is active growth
3. Don't use on lawn that has just come out of dormancy
4. Don't use on lawn that is damaged, waterlogged
5. Mow at least 6 hours before application
6. Don't mow within 6 hours after application
7. Dont irrigate within 1 hour after application, best leave it longer
8. Apply with a nitro-iron application, such as Green Light, in a tank mix
9. Go low rates for first time use. Buffalo should stay low rates
10. Once a month application in late spring to early autumn.
