Today, I’m sharing the most loved Karachi Street Style Shami Kabab Bun Kabab — soft, juicy homemade shami kababs, fried to golden perfection and served inside toasted buns with fresh salad, green chutney, ketchup and crispy fries.
This recipe is full of desi flavor, street vibes, and pure comfort food — perfect for tea time, parties, and weekend cravings ✨🥖
🍔 Shami Kabab Recipe
Ingredients
🧺 For Shami Kabab:
Beef or Mutton boti: 1 kg
Chana daal: 1 cup (soaked 1 hour)
Dried red chilies: 6–7
White cumin: 1 tsp
Cloves: 4–5
Black pepper: 4–5
Green cardamom: 4
Black cardamom: 1–2
Bay leaf: 1
Cinnamon stick: 1 small
Salt: to taste
Turmeric: ½ tsp
Garlic cloves: 6–7
Ginger piece: 1 small
Onion: 1 medium (rough cut)
Water: 3 glasses
🌿 After Grinding Add:
Fresh coriander: 1 handful
Mint leaves: 1 handful
Green chilies: 5 (thin sliced)
Onion: 1 small (finely chopped)
Garam masala powder: 1 tsp
Egg: 1 large (beaten)
🥘 Method
Step 1 — Prepare Shami Mixture
Add meat, chana daal, all spices, garlic, ginger, onion and water into a pressure cooker
Cook until meat and daal are fully tender and water dries
Transfer mixture to a bowl and allow to cool completely
Grind the cooled mixture in a chopper until smooth
Add coriander, mint, green chilies, chopped onion, garam masala and beaten egg
Mix well and shape into round kababs
Step 2 — Fry the Kababs
Heat pan slightly, add oil
Place kababs and cook until one side becomes light brown
Flip and fry the other side until light golden
Remove kababs on a plate
🥖 Bun Kabab Assembly — Karachi Style
In the same pan, lightly fry buns on both sides
Spread green pudina chutney and ketchup
Add salad leaves, cucumber, tomato and onion
Place hot Shami kabab
Drizzle ketchup on top
Add crispy fries
Cover with top bun and press gently
