Watch me demonstrate my method for turning a tall, skinny vase with a natural edge, along with a small footed stand for it. Using some gorgeous walnut burl, I share my approach for reducing vibration as you turn the vase, as well as a couple more tips that are handy for this project and many others. The stand that I made isn't what I had initially planned for that piece, so I might not use it; however, I wanted to have a complete project for the video, so I went with something simple. I don't make a lot of finials or tall footed stands, so I try to stick with clean lines and minimal ornamentation - good finial design is not easy. The tools I used for this project are: a variety of bowl gouges, a deep hollowing tool, a couple spindle gouges, a skew, and a bedan-like tool (but it could certainly be done with fewer tools than you see me using). Please like, subscribe, and share. Thanks for watching!

--- Attention ---
Please note, my videos are for entertainment only. They are simply demonstrations and are NOT intended to be instructional. Proper training and experience are essential before attempting to use any woodworking equipment. Do not attempt projects or techniques that are beyond your skill level or your comfort level! Serious accidents can happen in an instant and bandaging wounds or sitting in an emergency room is much less fun than woodturning. You are always responsible for your own safety. The only rules are: 1) Be careful; 2) Have fun.
