Duke, the Clampetts’ bloodhound, has been unusually lethargic, leaving the family concerned. Jed receives a letter from Mlle. Denise, accompanied by a picture of herself. However, the letter is written in French, leaving Jed puzzled. Meanwhile, Margaret excitedly tells Milburn that her dog, Claude, is about to become a father and enlists his help in choosing names for the puppies. Curious about Denise’s letter, Jed visits the bank to have Miss Jane translate it. The letter reveals that Denise plans to return to Beverly Hills for the birth of her dog’s puppies and hopes to see Jed during her visit.

Denise arrives at the Clampett mansion, attempting to communicate in English with Granny and Elly, who struggle to understand her. When Jed returns home, he eagerly looks forward to rekindling his “courtin’ and sparkin’” with Denise. At the Drysdale home, Margaret proudly shows Milburn the nursery she’s prepared for the puppies. However, her excitement turns to shock when she notices the puppies bear a striking resemblance to Duke rather than Claude. Later, Miss Jane gives Jed a quick French lesson to help him impress Denise. The Drysdales deliver Denise’s dog, Colette, and her puppies to the Clampetts, bringing the situation full circle. Jed takes Denise out to dinner, but the evening ends with Jed, Duke, and Colette—a humorous reminder of the unexpected bond between their pets.
