Mount Persis - Washington State

Mount Persis is a seldom visited summit within the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. Unlike neighboring Mount Index there is no officially maintained trail to the summit and the route is brutally steep from the very beginning and challenging to follow in places. Gates have historically blocked access to the forest service road network accessing the start of the hiking route. However, Weyerhaeuser recently sold most of its land holdings in the area and the gates may now be open. Once you reach the top of the ridgeline you are rewarded with fantastic views of towering sheer cliff walls and panoramic views that stretch all the way from the Puget Sound basin to Canada and deep into the central Cascades.
