Martin Garat - Gaga About You (ENGLISH VERSION) (France) (Rare South African 7", 1986) (Euro-Disco)

A killer French Euro-Disco track full of 80s charm.

Written by Martin Garat and Michel Ducau Lucart and released on CBS in 1986. It was recorded at Studio BIPER in Paris and mixed at Paradise Studios in Munich by the esteemed German engineer and producer Jürgen Koppers, who worked with artists like Giorgio Moroder, Donna Summer, Laura Branigan, among others.

From what I could find, Martin Garat is a Basque musician who released one album in 1985 and a couple of singles throughout the 80s and was part
of the French group "OïO" in the early 90s. Apparently, he lives in Spain and works/worked in music therapy. It seems like Garat is credited on all available releases relating to Studio BIPER and the obscure Biper Records label. I couldn't find any information about this label, but I'm assuming he was involved with its creation or management/ownership somehow. His 1987 single "Maïama" was released on this label.

This particular single was (most likely) only released in France, the Netherlands and South Africa, with the South African single release being the only one containing an English version of the song, but that's just according to the Discogs releases currently available in the database. I wonder how the English version got to South Africa in the first place, but I guess we might never know. One thing I do know is that I'm really grateful to own this single and that I am able to share it with you.
