Emily (Eileen Derbyshire) remains calm about the delay, sure that Ernie (Stephen Hancock) will turn up. Ernie is terrified that Emily might jilt him but both bride and groom eventually show up and the ceremony goes off without a hitch. At the reception, Ken (Bill Roache) reads out the telegrams and Len (Peter Adamson) offers a toast to the happy couple. Mavis (Thelma Barlow) is taken with Jerry (Graham Haberfield). The newlyweds leave for Edale. Ray (Neville Buswell) asks Vicki (Clare Sutcliffe) to marry him but is stunned to discover she is pregnant. Albert (Jack Howarth) is in a strop about not getting any boiled ham but is placated when Minnie (Margot Bryant) invites him to her house for a cup of tea.
