Berry Galette Recipe - beautiful, rustic, and delicious yet so easy to make

Have you heard of a fruit galette? French galettes generally refer to any type of flat, round, or freeform crusty cake. In this case, I'm making galettes with fruit. I love making these as gifts for friends because not only are they extremely easy to make but they also look so pretty and rustic. All one requires is pie dough, fruit, sugar, and a thickener. Then you can add extra flavor with optional ingredients such as ground spices, extracts, or jam. I definitely recommend making these as they come together quickly and aren't as taxing to make as pies.

Ingredients:
Pie dough
1 pound strawberries
1 carton blueberries
Sugar
Corn starch
Vanilla bean paste
Strawberry jam
Blueberry compote
Egg wash
Demerara sugar
*other flavorings can be added such as lemon juice, lemon zest (or any other citrus), cinnamon, and balsamic vinegar.
