Today I explore Berastagi, Sumatra in Indonesia where I'm overwhelmed by the welcoming and friendliness of the local people as they engage with me in a very positive way. I discover a back street market place revealing many vibrant and enjoyable aspects of local food and people.
I find a street of barbers with one of them being generous with his time while attending to one of his clients - he tells me how long he's been involved in his occupation and we chat about his job.
Two sisters in a market also happily have fun chatting with me with one of them telling me she wants to visit Australia. One of the girls mentions she's been around the family business since she was a child - I find her quite funny.
There's a fried noodle place which I'm directed to which is famous for their food and we watch the matriarch prepare her renowned dish before settling in to experience what i consider the best noodles I've ever had. It was outstanding!
Positive emotions ran a little high for me today as I have one of the most rewarding travel days I remember feeling connected to life and other people.
