Today I'm in Yogyakarta walking the main shopping district in search of local street food where I find a man walking with a whistling can who makes the most wonderful coconut sweet on the side of the road. It tastes great!
On my walk into the centre I come across a group of people making local desert balls and I'm invited to try one. It's so nice I buy a box from the local pastry people and ask them about the food and how many of these round balls of goodness they make every day.
The horse drawn buggies of Yogya are quite splendid and ornate so I have to ask one of the drivers how much one costs to buy. I'm surprised when told the figure is six thousand dollars.
I also meet a couple of guys on the street who strike me as con men who would quickly take advantage of you if you weren't paying attention.
Before heading out into the main shopping district I show you my room explaining the cost and what it includes.I also introduce the owner of the place as she sits at her table in the courtyard.
It was a great walk around Malioboro Yogyakarta.
