Spillage Map Preview! - Timberborn Experimental Branch

Today we take a first look at Spillage, the newly released challenging Timberborn map from Mechanistry, marked with the orange leaf and designed for experienced players. This is an overview and analysis video, breaking down the map’s unique mechanics before starting a full playthrough.

Spillage is built entirely around water seeps — there are no traditional water sources on the map. Instead, normal water seeps, new badwater seeps, dormant badwater sources, drains, and bomb-triggered terrain changes define how water and badwater flow. We explore how seep height limits water levels, how badwater behaves differently, and why elevation and pressure are going to matter far more than usual.

The video walks through every major area of the map, examining bomb locations, relic placements, badwater drains, and likely flow paths once detonations begin. We discuss which water sources are safe, which will inevitably become contaminated, and where early-game settlements might realistically survive. There’s also a brief dev-mode test to preview what a bad tide and full detonation looks like — and the resulting water flow is intense.

We also talk faction choice, weighing Iron Teeth vs Folktails, geothermal availability, logistics challenges, and why mobility and transit may matter more here than raw production. The video finishes with early strategy thoughts, including badwater diversion, levies, dams, and why rushing certain relics may be critical.
