On the 22nd of February, 2025, we embarked on a train from Sealdah at 6:30 AM, heading towards Prantik station for our much-anticipated visit to Bolpur Shantiniketan. The journey was smooth, and as we arrived, a serene, rustic charm welcomed us. We had already secured our accommodation, a luxurious retreat named Alakh Dariba, just a 10-minute ride from Prantik station.
Shantiniketan, the cultural heartland founded by Rabindranath Tagore, greeted us with its tranquil environment, lush greenery, and artistic heritage. The red soil paths, shaded by rows of Shimul and Palash trees, painted a picturesque scene. The air carried the melodies of Baul singers, adding to the soulful atmosphere. We looked forward to exploring Visva-Bharati University, Tagore’s abode Upasana Griha, the famous Kopai River, and the vibrant Sonajhuri Haat, where local artisans displayed their handmade crafts.
With excitement in our hearts and the peaceful rhythm of Shantiniketan around us, our journey had just begun.
