Footage of soldiers of the King's African Rifles undergoing riot training in the Northern Frontier District of Kenya.
The training was to serve as preparation for the role of maintaining law and order in the event of the local police losing control.
The backdrop to this was the break in diplomatic relations between Somalia and Britain after the British Colonial Secretary Duncan Sandys announced that a seventh Kenyan district would be created within the Northern Frontier District with the majority Somali population having local authority. The Somalian government felt that the territory should have been ceded to Somalia.
