In this video, Dr. Steve Knighton, our Oakville Chiropractor at Nottinghill Family Wellness Centre, takes you through the comprehensive treatment method for Morton's Neuroma, a painful condition that affects the toes. As explained in our anatomy video, Morton's Neuroma causes sharp, burning pain across the toes due to thickened tissue around a nerve. Once you’ve received a diagnosis either from our clinic in Oakville or your doctor, Dr. Steve walks you through the effective treatment options available.

The treatment protocol at our clinic includes Interferential Current (IFC) Therapy combined with heat application. Dr. Steve begins by applying heat to your injured foot, which helps increase blood flow and prepares the area for further treatment. The IFC device, applied with suction cups, uses electric stimulation to relieve pain, relax muscles, and improve circulation around the foot, helping to loosen fluid and reduce discomfort.

Next, Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Therapy (ART) and deep tissue work come into play. Dr. Steve uses a scraper tool or the Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Instrument to perform deep tissue and soft tissue work. This helps to release muscle tension, break up scar tissue, and improve range of motion. While it’s not the most comfortable part of the treatment, it is definitely worth the temporary discomfort for long-term pain relief and improved foot function.

Shockwave Therapy is another powerful part of the treatment. Using a pneumatic device, high-intensity shockwaves are directed at the affected area. The unit is adjusted between 0.3 and 1.8 BAR, and the foot is "hit" between 800-1200 times, helping to break up scar tissue and stimulate healing.
