Brittani Sisouphanh is spending her first holiday season without her father, Sone Rassavong, who was recently deported by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to his home country of Laos. Rassavong first moved to the United States in 1981 as a refugee and lost permanent resident status after being accused of violating a protection order, Sisouphanh said. He was living in Texas at the time, she said, and lacked access to reliable transportation to check in for parole.
