Meadowsweet is a common plant that works brilliantly on stomach irritations and digestion issues.
An important constituent of meadowsweet is salicylic acid which was originally extracted from the plant to give us aspirin. Meadowsweet's former botanical name is spiraea ulmaria which is where the name aspirin comes from. It's now known as filipendula ulmaria.
Meadowsweet was also used in making mead at one time, as medical herbalist Keren Brynes MacLean explains in this video.
