How to bind the ends of a belt. This video shows the process of decorative binding for a Sámi belt or band. This colourful binding is a distinctive feature. Binding the ends of a warp in several colours to make a pattern is an old tradition. A texture from Ancient Egypt shows another such attention to decorative detail on the end of a furnishing fabric. Andean sling braids use a similar method.
The red pattern thread is twice as thick as the white and blue background thread. When binding, the working threads should be of equal thickness. Two white and two blue working threads are used. The red thread is used as a single working end.
