Sophomore twin sisters Natasha Hessler and Ariel Hessler of Ridgway High finished first and fourth, respectively, in the girls Class 2A final at the Colorado High School Activities Association state championships at Norris Penrose Event Center in Colorado Springs. Natasha Hessler won the title by covering the 5-kilometer layout in 18:49.2 and Ariel Hessler ran 19:10.5 to help Ridgway win the first team title in program history with 38 points. Natasha Hessler improved from sixth last season in 20:05.8 and Ariel Hessler elevated from seventh last year in 20:07.5, as Ridgway ascended from fourth as a team to capture just the second state title in any girls team sport in school history, joining girls basketball in 1982.
